Narrative

Primary responsibility, as Research Program Consultant, is the design, implementation, and evaluation of research in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences.  This includes conceptualization of research questions, consultation in the design of experimental methodologies, design and implementation of software for data collection and analysis, training personnel in data collection and its processing, and participation in manuscript preparation.  Specific duties include:

  1. Consulting in statistics, experimental design, data analysis, networking, distance education, and technology-enhanced education.
  1. Programming and software design in Macromedia Flash, E-Prime experiment control software, R/SPSS/Systat statistical software, Cocoa/XCode, C/C++, MATLAB, PERL, programming for Tucker-Davis Technology equipment (System II and System 3), programming for interfaces for cochlear implant experiments (Cochlear and Advanced Bionics), DSP programming, etc.
  1. Providing user support for many packages, including MS-Office, database (rBase and Access), statistical packages (R, SPSS and Systat), video editing software, MS Front Page, and many others.
  2. Design and maintenance of Web sites.
  1. Writing proposals to obtain funding for special projects.
  1. Writing user guides for equipment and software.
  1. Evaluate equipment and software for purchase and install same. 

Duties now include support for “infrastructure” and hardware other than computers and lab equipment, including classroom systems, classroom laboratories, audio-visual equipment and advice/purchase/setup of new computer systems.
